The Last Week of Summer

Well it's here, the very last day of Summer for us.  We pretty much laid low today, the girls have been playing all morning and watching a few favorite shows.  Tonight is back to school night as well as Brooklyn's first soccer practice of the season.  So the hustle and bustle of the evenings will be in full effect this Monday night!  It's bittersweet for Brooklyn and I, we both pretty much have the same feelings about school starting again.   A little excitement but also wishing we could have a bit more Summertime.  Kayla on the other hand can not wait to go back and is looking forward to seeing all her friends tonight and tomorrow.   We had an amazing Summer so no regrets there and this past week we enjoyed being home a lot and also having a bit of fun here and there as well.

Tuesday my parents came over to visit and take us out to lunch.  They just recently got back from vacation and brought the girls some gifts they had picked out for them.

At lunch Brooklyn showed me she really likes onions as in she'll eat them plain, no problem.

Later that afternoon we headed to the library.  We had all Summer to go and I had asked them a lot if they wanted to go and they would always say no, I've got books to read but the last two weeks they have been wanting to go.  So we've made a couple of trips which is fine with me because I love a good library and Kayla said she likes going just to smell the old books which is exactly why I like going too!

Kayla always has a list of what books she is going to read, she finished all her books on her Summer reading list so here she is making her school year list now.  She's too cute!

Back at home Brooklyn read next to her fur buddy

On Wednesday, the girls had some friends come by and they painted rocks.  Around our town people have been hiding painted rocks for others to find and it's become this big thing so the girls had been asking to paint some to go and hide.

Below is the stash of rocks the girls painted, they hid most of them but Kayla kept her fish for her room and Brooklyn kept the fairy and a few other ones she painted.

The sound of legos is always heard coming from this girls room.  She plays and builds things all day!

Kayla set up a little shop for her sister to buy stuff

More rock painting

I'll miss having my girls home for lunch during the week!

Friday on our way to our end of Summer picnic we made a few stops around town to hide some painted rocks

they were excited to find one while hiding their own

After the picnic I surprised them with a stop at Starbucks for a frappuccino, they had been asking all Summer to use a gift card they had received and had pretty much giving up recently so I thought it would be fun to finally go

Tonight dinner consisted of veggie lasagna made in the crockpot with some chocolate chip cookies for dessert

Somebody lost a tooth while eating dinner, it's been awhile since the tooth fairy has come to visit her so she is excited!

After an early dinner it was off to back to school night.  Brooklyn had some fun surprises waiting for her in her 2nd grade superhero themed classroom!

Then we went to Kayla's class while Brooklyn went to soccer practice.  Both girls will have a great year I think.  Kayla is so excited and Brooklyn is excited as of right now too.  I will miss them but having the house all to myself all day tomorrow does sound mighty nice!
